A discussion exercise is a form of exercise where participants gather in a common room, physically or digitally. All communication takes place in this room and the participants will only discuss both specific and generic issues. Different scenarios and input are provided by a discussion leader from Netsecurity .
The exercise is suitable for businesses that have an existing contingency plan and want to practice scenarios and unwanted digital incidents that the business may encounter in its daily work. The aim of such exercises is to prepare the business to handle cybersecurity incidents effectively.
The company chooses how many stakeholders it wants to include in the exercise. In order to be able to limit who will be relevant to include in the exercise, it can be beneficial to have a clearly defined goal for the exercise.
At Netsecurity, we use a three-phase model for conducting discussion exercises. These phases include a start-up meeting, execution of the exercise and evaluation of the exercise .
After completion, Netsecurity prepares an evaluation report. The report includes a description of the scenario, observations from the exercise, and areas for improvement aimed at both exercise objectives, relevant areas of expertise and established frameworks .
