Swedish security authorities have selected the Norwegian company Netsecurity to monitor and protect critical Swedish infrastructure and businesses against cyberattacks. The agreement is likely the largest cybersecurity contract ever awarded in the Nordic region.
Netsecurity won the contract with the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MCF) in fierce competition with 19 other vendors, including several of Sweden’s and the Nordic region’s largest IT companies. The contract is divided among several suppliers based on their rankings, and Netsecurity was ranked number one in two out of three areas.
The agreement has a total value of nearly three billion Swedish kronor, and Netsecurity’s share is estimated at up to 800 million Swedish kronor over four years.
“This is at the heart of our mission: to protect society against threats that most people never see, but whose consequences everyone feels. With this agreement, Netsecurity becomes a central part of Sweden’s national emergency preparedness, ” says Jan Søgaard, CEO of Netsecurity.
The contract involves the establishment of a Swedish National Security Operations Center (SOC), which, according to MCF, is intended to “enhance the ability of critical infrastructure organizations to detect cyberattacks early, thereby limiting the damage to society.”
Nordic expertise with a focus on Norway
Netsecurity is one of the Nordic region’s largest cybersecurity organizations, with 170 employees in Norway and Sweden. From a Norwegian SOC (Security Operations Center) staffed by 60 analysts, the company monitors and protects several hundred customers in Norway and Sweden around the clock. The company meets the requirements of the NSM’s quality assurance scheme for incident response.
This is the second major contract Netsecurity has won in Sweden in a short period of time. In late April, the company secured a long-term agreement for security monitoring of eight Swedish municipalities in Jämtland and the Jämtland Rescue Services Association.

An Ever-Growing Threat
The threat landscape in the Nordic region has changed fundamentally. According to the National Cybersecurity Center (NCSC), cyberattacks against Swedish businesses and critical infrastructure are ongoing—ranging from state actors seeking political and economic influence to criminal networks employing increasingly sophisticated methods. In Norway, the National Security Authority (NSM) reports a sixfold increase in the number of attacks in just a few years.
Netsecurity, which monitors 800 customers in Norway and Sweden around the clock, is seeing the same trend. So far in 2026, the company has analyzed over 2 million alerts and prevented 20,000 attacks from succeeding.
– The number of attacks is increasing, and they are becoming increasingly cynical and harder to detect. Every day, we see how vulnerable businesses are and what’s at stake when defenses fail: operational shutdowns, loss of sensitive information, and societal functions that cease to work,” says Søgaard.
Government Framework for National Cyber Readiness
The procurement from MCF is intended to protect Swedish municipalities, regions, hospitals, energy companies, financial institutions, and other critical infrastructure organizations against digital attacks. The basis for this is the EU’s NIS2 Directive, which sets new requirements for how such organizations must protect themselves.
“What Sweden is now doing through MCF is building a national framework that makes critical infrastructure entities better equipped to detect and stop cyberattacks. The fact that Netsecurity has been chosen to be a central part of that structure is a confirmation of the Nordic position we have built over several years, and a responsibility we take seriously,” says Søgaard.
In the coming years, Netsecurity will provide security services in three different areas:
- Security monitoring of industrial control systems, where MCF ranked Netsecurity number one.
- External network monitoring, where MCF ranked Netsecurity number one.
- Security monitoring of IT environments at medium-sized and large enterprises, where MCF ranked Netsecurity number two.
Deliveries to Swedish companies will begin after the summer of 2026. The contract has a term of two years, with an option to extend for up to two additional years.
