Eight municipalities in Jämtland and the Jämtland Rescue Services Association are investing in cyber security by introducing round-the-clock monitoring.The initiative is a strategic step to strengthen the municipalities' cybersecurity in an increasingly digital and connected business.
In 2025, Östersund municipality was commissioned to carry out a joint procurement of security surveillance (SOC) for the municipalities of Östersund, Åre, Berg, Bräcke, Härjedalen, Krokom, Strömsund and Ragunda, as well as Jämtland's Rescue Services Association. In early 2026, Netsecurity was chosen as the supplier, and the service is now being built.
The solution involves Managed Detection and Response (SOC), where threats are detected, analyzed and managed around the clock.

- For us, it's all about protecting citizens' data and ensuring that essential services work even when something unexpected happens. The demands on cybersecurity have increased, and this is an important step to meet them, says Johan Pettersson, IT manager in Åre municipality, representing the collaborating municipalities.
The threat landscape against the public sector has changed rapidly in recent years, with more targeted attacks, ransomware and attacks via supply chains. At the same time, demands for continuous monitoring and rapid response are increasing.
